Designed to win, this glorious example of Formula 1–derived engineering has such aesthetic appeal that it belongs as much in an art gallery as it did on race tracks around the world.
You can display it in your home, ride it at Goodwood and other historic events or show it at the finest concours worldwide. Whatever you choose to do it is guaranteed to offer a fabulous spectacle.
One of just six factory-certified Grand Prix winning Ducati from the legendary era of MotoGP
"This day will go down in Ducati's history. This is the first time we have had a one-two finish in MotoGP, the first time we have won the first and last races of the season and our best-ever championship finish. It's a great end to the year, a good omen for 2007, great for team morale and very important for our technical partners Bridgestone and Shell Advance and all our sponsors."
Federico Minoli, president and CEO Ducati Motor Holding
Capirossi’s 2006 MotoGP Japanese Grand Prix-winning Ducati, sourced direct from the Bologna works factory and fully certified.
The classic Italian reds - Ducati and Ferrari - dominated at the highest levels of their sports and like Schumacher in Formula 1, MotoGP had a stand-out star in Loris Capirossi - the first Grand Prix rider to start more than 300 races. Racing Ducati for five consecutive seasons at the same time that Schumacher dominated Formula 1, Capirossi won the Japanese Grand Prix three times - the last in 2007.
The 2006 race saw Capirossi take pole position ahead of Valentino Rossi in a season where he had looked likely to win the World Championship - leading after the first six rounds. The accident in Round 7 at Catalunya put paid to that ambition but he remained highly competitive and this outstanding win in Round 15 showed his true class.
This GP6 was collected from Ducati Corse Bologna on 19th February 2007, still wearing the Valencia scrutineers label and with the race-worn handle bar grips by its single private owner.
It remains one of the most original and authentic MotoGP Ducati in existence with an outstanding provenance.
